- A MyQ smart garage door opener from Chamberlain
- MyQ account
- A mobile device running Android or iOS
- A device with Amazon Alexa (usually an Amazon Echo smart speaker)

Now, let’s get right into the steps that you need to achieve MyQ integration with Alexa:
- Grab your smartphone or tablet. The first thing that we will want to do is install the SimpleCommands application on your device. You can get it for Android devices here, and for Apple devices here.
- Once installed, open the application and register for an account.
- Verify your registration by clicking on the “Confirm Email” link they send to the email address you used to sign up.
- Now, go back to SimpleCommands and sign in with your account.
- You will find yourself on the app’s main page now. Click the “Add/Remove Items” button at the bottom.
- Go through the list and find the “myQ – Openers” option. Select the “Add” button to its right.

- Click the More button on the left and tap “Skills & Games.”
- Using the search bar, type in “kloee for SC.” Tap it when you see it in the list.
- Press “Enable to Use.”
- Once again, enter the login details for your SimpleCommands account to link it with the Alexa skill.
- Now, we will head back to the SimpleCommands app. Click the three horizontal lines in the upper-left corner to open the menu.
- Tap “Routines.”
- Name the routine. It can be something as plain as “MyQ Garage.” Press “Create Routine.”
- Choose your MyQ garage door opener from the list and press “Select.”
- Now, choose the command for the garage door that you’re trying to use. For instance, it could be to close the door or open it. Press “Add Command” once you do.
- Your routine will now be created, but we’re not done yet. Click on it again to enter the Edit menu.
- Tap the “Enable Voice Companion Alexa and/or Google Assistant” option at the very bottom.
- Toggle this setting on.
- Type in the voice command that you want to use to activate this routine.
- Press “Save.”
- In the Alexa app, tap “Devices” at the bottom.
- Press the plus icon in the top-right and tap “Add Device.”
- Go to the bottom and choose “Other.”
- Select “Discover Devices.”
- You should see a prompt that says “1 scene discovered”, though it might be more than 1. Press “Done.”
- We’re almost done. Go back to the main page of the Alexa app, open the menu, and choose “Routines.”
- Press the plus icon in the top-right and press “Add action.”
- Tap “Smart Home.”
- Choose “Control Scene” and select the one you just made. Press “Add.”
- Give the routine a name.
- Tap “When this happens” and pick “Voice” from the options.
- Type in your voice command.
- Finally, save it.
