Solution #1: Get the Latest Update from the Official Microsoft Store

Updating the game via the official Microsoft Store is the easiest solution, so we’ll share it first. Just follow these steps:

  • Click on the Windows icon on your desktop
  • Find and select “Microsoft Store”
  • Find three dots next to the upper-right corner of the Microsoft Store icon & click on it
  • From the pop-up menu, select the “Downloads & Updates” option 

In the following pop-up menu, select the option that says “Get Updates” Once you select “Get Updates,” Microsoft Store will check for the latest updates and install them on your Windows 10 PC.

Solution #2: Force Update 

Minecraft Java version players can “Force Update” their game by taking the following steps:

  • Download Minecraft Launcher & install it on your Windows 10 PC
  • Open the launcher in a separate window
  • Select the “Options” icon
  • On the next page, select the “Force Update” option.
  • Click on Login to start downloading the update/s 
  • Once the updates are downloaded select the “Done” option 

After this, the update will finish automatically. 

Solution #3: Reinstall Minecraft (Only works for Java Edition)

Solution #1: Reset Minecraft

  • Open the Settings window on your PC (Shortcut: Press the Windows, and I keys simultaneously)

  • Right-click on the Minecraft icon 
  • In the pop-up menu, select “Advanced Options”

Solution #2: Reinstall Minecraft

  • Press the Windows logo key & the “R” letter on your keypad simultaneously
  • On the pop-up menu (the Run menu), type appwiz.cpl 
  • Press Enter to run this command
  • Right-click on the Minecraft icon
  • Click Uninstall
  • Open your File Explorer (Shortcut: press the Windows logo key & the “E” key simultaneously)
  • Type %Appdata% in the File Explorer’s address bar 
  • Press Enter to find the Minecraft folder 
  • Delete the Minecraft folder
  • Now, re-visit the Minecraft official website & download the game’s latest version. Install the game and run it to see if it features the latest updates.
