Then there’s the advanced “point-anywhere” remote control uses Wi-Fi instead of infrared signals to transmit actions and commands.
If you have the Wi-Fi remote control, you will need to use the button in the battery compartment to pair Roku remote to TV to allow it to work over Wi-Fi. The benefit of this is that you will not need to point the remote directly at the TV, making it perfect for the Roku stick that is out of sight behind your TV in most cases.
However, with the infrared remote control, you just need to point it directly at your Roku player, and it will work straight off the bat, just like most remote controls that we know and love.
