I’m about to share my top tips for resetting your Google WiFi with minimal hassle and frustration. So buckle up and let’s start on this journey to reset your Google WiFi – you won’t regret it!

Why should you factory reset your Google WiFi?
There are several compelling reasons to factory reset your Google WiFi. They are as follows:
You’re having Google WiFi problems that you can’t solve using other techniques.
- Do you intend to give or sell the device?
- Returning the item
- wishing to wipe all of the data on the device
- Restarting a device’s setup process from the beginning
- The most typical cause for a factory reset is if you’re having WiFi connectivity or sync troubles.
A factory reset resets everything and can help solve a variety of issues.
How to factory reset google WiFi?
A Google WiFi network can be factory reset in two ways.
- The first step is to hit the reset button on the Google WiFi gadget.
- The second can be accomplished entirely within the Google Home app.
If you want to factory reset your Google WiFi AND wipe all of the data it has acquired for Google cloud services, use the Google Home app!
- To begin, turn your router upside down and look for a small reset button.
- Hold down the reset button for at least 10 seconds. The router’s indicator light will begin to flash before turning solid yellow.
- Release the reset button after the router’s indicator light has turned solid yellow. This will initiate the reset procedure.
(Remember that if you hold the router reset button for more than 15 seconds, the indicator light will continue to flash yellow, and the router will not reset.)
All other devices connected to your Google WiFi router will also flash yellow to indicate a full factory reset.
During the rest procedure, do not unplug any Google WiFi devices! The Google Nest WiFi hotspots will be the first to reset and will play a tone to indicate that the operation has been completed.
If you have a First Gen WiFi router connected to your Google WiFi mesh network, the status light will change from solid blue to pulsing blue after around 10 minutes.
This indicates that the factory reset has been completed and that your WiFi is now ready for configuration.
Don’t worry if your Google WiFi router does not have a factory reset button on the bottom. You may still reset it to factory settings.
- Begin by unplugging your Google WiFi router’s power cord.
- Hold down the button on the SIDE of the router while it is unplugged. Hold this button down when reconnecting the router’s power supply.
- When you reconnect the router, the indicator light should turn white. Hold the button down for another 10-15 seconds.
- The router indicator light will eventually begin to blink blue. At this point, you can release the button.
- Your router will continue to flicker blue for a while before becoming solid blue. Allow your router to sit for around 10 minutes.
- Your router will be factory reset in 10 minutes. It is now available to be added back to your Google Home app!
How to reset a Google WiFi in the app?
You now understand how to reset Google WiFi without using an app. But what if you don’t want to become too technical?
You can make advantage of the Google WiFi app!
But be warned that the app’s factory reset will destroy your data and render it unrecoverable. It includes your current Google Home app settings and Cloud services. You can hard reset the device if you wish to maintain your settings and other cloud services.
The Google WiFi app has been replaced with the Google Home app. If you don’t already have one, get one and then follow these steps:
- Select Settings from the Google Home app. Continue to Nest WiFi. This will display the “Primary Network” screen.
- Scroll down to Factory Reset. The following message will be displayed:
- When you’re ready, click Yes.
- Your Google WiFi network will now be reset to factory settings. This procedure may take a few minutes to finish.
- Return to the Google Home app’s home screen and reload it. The devices that comprise your Google WiFi mesh network should no longer be visible.
- You should also notice that the indicator lights on your devices change, indicating that they are factory reset.
- After around 10 minutes, you should be able to re-enable your Google WiFi!
What Should You Do After Resetting Google WiFi?
Now that you’ve successfully reset Google WiFi, you’ll need to do a few things to get it back in working order. What you must do is as follows:
- For 30 seconds, unplug your gadget. After that, connect the power cord.
- Configure your WiFi and other access points.
- Activate your Google account.
- Before restarting your smartphone, redo the settings it previously had.
- If you already set up your device with the Google WiFi app, do so again with the Google Home app.
