Can You Use Spectrum App on Firestick? How to Do It? (Easy Tutorial)

Spectrum TV might not be the most popular over-the-top streaming platform in the United States. Still, it boasts a large and respectable user base of over 15 million users. Considering only subscribers to the Charter Spectrum internet service can use Spectrum TV, that number is even more impressive. It is about 50% of their nearly 30 million customers.

Spectrum TV is available on a wide array of devices, so you enjoy content anywhere you go. Supported devices include iPhones, iPads, Androids, Roku devices, Samsung Smart TVs, and Amazon Kindle Fire tablets. However, there is a shocking omission, which is Amazon Fire TV devices. If it works on Roku streaming devices and Amazon tablets, why are Fire TV devices missing?

It’s tough to know why, but the Spectrum app on Firestick is incompatible with all other Fire TV devices. This can be very annoying, but fortunately, there are ways to install this. It will take a bit of elbow grease, so stick with me. Let me show you how to install and run the Spectrum app for Firestick.

Why is the Spectrum app not on Firestick?

Suppose you’re looking to install the Spectrum TV app on Firestick. In that case, if you live in a place like the United States, you will see it available in the Amazon App Store for your Fire Stick.

Even if you officially download the Spectrum TV app for Firestick, it won’t work. Instead, you’ll get an error message thrown at you as it seems that the app is no longer supported by the team for the Fire TV platform.

Why the Spectrum TV app is available on so many other platforms, including some Amazon devices and other streaming media players, but not on the Amazon Fire TV Stick, is a mystery. I can’t exactly say why, but my hope is that they will resolve the problem, hopefully soon.

How to download the Spectrum app on Firestick?

Suppose you’re looking for how to get Spectrum TV on Firestick. In that case, getting it directly from the Amazon App Store is always possible. Still, if you’ve been paying attention, that won’t work, even if it installs.

So, can you download the Spectrum app on Firestick and have it work? The answer to that is yes. The most viable way to get the Spectrum app on Firestick, and working, is to sideload it. Your Amazon Fire TV device technically runs on Android. So getting an APK from another source can sideload it on your Fire Stick and use it like you would on other devices.

To do this, we’ll use a Firestick app called Downloader. You can use this to install APKs from unknown sources.

The first thing you’ll need to do is to allow installation from unknown sources. Follow the steps below to get that done:

  1. Open the “Settings” on your Fire Stick. You can do this by selecting the gear icon from the Home Screen.
  2. Choose “My Fire TV.”
  3. Go to the “About” section.
  4. On the first item in the menu, press the “Select” or center button on your remote control seven times in quick succession. This will unhide the Developer Options menu.
  5. Go back to the “My Fire TV” menu.
  6. Select “Developer Options.”
  7. Select “Apps from Unknown Sources” and turn it on.

Now, it is time to install Downloader and download Spectrum TV, which you can do by following the steps below:

  1. Launch the Amazon App Store from your Home Screen.
  2. Select the search bar and type in “Downloader.”
  3. When you see the app, click on the icon to open its page on the App Store.
  4. Press “Download.”
  5. The app will be downloaded and installed. Once done, press “Open” to launch it.
  6. Allow the app to have any permissions it requests for.
  7. In the big text bar, enter the Spectrum URL for Firestick, which is as follows: https://bit.ly/32m2u3vPress “Go,” and the APK will begin to download.

How to install the Spectrum TV app on Firestick?

Once you have used the steps above to download Spectrum on Firestick, the only thing that remains is to actually install the application.

Fortunately, Downloader pretty much takes care of this step for you too. Once it has finished downloading the APK for Spectrum TV, you should see a pop-up appear. Press the “Install” button in that pop-up window, and you will now have the application on your Firestick in less than a minute.

Note that you can use this same process for any other app available on Android but not on Amazon Fire TV Stick. However, this doesn’t guarantee that the app will be compatible with your Firestick.

How to stream Spectrum TV on Firestick?

Once you have Spectrum TV installed on your Amazon Fire Stick, the rest is pretty easy. Because Spectrum TV is limited to customers of Charter Spectrum, you will need to sign in to your Spectrum account.

Simply enter the credentials for your account as soon as you open the Spectrum app for Firestick and press the Log In button.

This will take you to the Home Page of the Spectrum TV app, where you can start to stream the channels of your choice without much hassle.

Troubleshooting “Spectrum TV app update not available on Firestick.”

If you’re being told that “Spectrum TV app update not available on Firestick,” the reason is pretty straightforward. It is simply because this app is not officially compatible with the Fire TV OS. You will likely run into the same issue even if you try a new internet connection or a completely different Fire TV product.

Keeping the Spectrum TV app on Firestick up to date can be tricky, as it is not officially supported on the platform’s App Store. However, there are methods you can use to keep it updated, but they are unfortunately not the most user-friendly.

My recommendation to keep the Spectrum TV app for Firestick updated is to simply uninstall it and reinstall the latest version every time a new update is available. However, I recommend only doing this when the updates are significant, as you might not notice the difference between some updates!
